Since Fantastical is positioned to be a replacement for other calendar apps, it needed a quick and strong way show that it’s a calendar, so many traditional elements were kept like the red/white color and month grid. After that, there was room to make it stand out on it’s own by placing it on a strong backboard and adding some magical flair and flourishes. The app has been incredibly successful and easy to identify among others.
