Screens was inspired by iOS 7 to take a fresh look at their visual design for the 3rd version of Edovia’s iOS and Mac apps. We wanted an icon that could translate from the very simple and clean iOS version to the larger and more detailed OS X version of the app. Since the focus of the app is on sharing screens and other VNC activities, after a few rounds of sketching ideas, the metaphor of multiple screens within each other felt like a perfect fit and we continued onto the rendering. The iOS version focused solely on the interaction of the screen rectangles while the OS X version added detail and realism by framing the screens with display hardware.
